It’s crucial to let your partner be who they are and to support their goals and desires in life, even if those goals don’t include you. Value your partner for who they are, not who you need them to be. Everyone has the innate desire to live freely, to create, and to be themselves without restriction.
If you try to control your partner, they will seek freedom in some way, whether you realize it or not. They will find an outlet to express themselves. In such cases, it might be better to take a break and rethink the relationship. Decide whether to improve it or let it go. Staying in a relationship that has expired and should have ended long ago only leads to a cycle of torment and pain, hindering both partners’ growth. Approach personal matters with tact and gentleness. Speak with love and consideration, avoiding harsh words that might upset your partner. It’s one thing to be mindful of your words out of respect; it’s another to feel oppressed and afraid to speak your mind. If you feel bad about saying something important, it’s a sign that your self-expression is being stifled. No one should have to ask their partner for permission to speak. A controlling partner might believe they are being protective or simply want to assert their opinion. However, restricting someone’s expression is not an act of love; it’s an act of selfishness, placing personal values above those of others. True love involves respecting and valuing each other’s individuality, encouraging personal growth, and fostering an environment where both partners feel free to be themselves. |
