Material Things: A Spiritual Perspective on Borrowed Beauty

We come into this world with nothing. And we will leave with nothing—not even the body we wear so intimately. Everything we touch, everything we use, every possession we call “ours”… is on loan.

Even your name will fade. So what, then, is the point of having beautiful things?

Here’s the truth: there is nothing wrong with wanting a lovely home, soft clothes, a reliable car, or even the thrill of something luxurious. The Universe is not offended by your desires. Creation itself is abundance, expressed. God is not minimal. Just look at the stars.

What matters—deeply—is what you believe these things say about you.

This World is a Playground of Form

On this Earth plane, we learn through contrast, through form, through things we can touch and shape and co-create. That doesn’t make this place any less holy. In fact, it is sacred because it’s temporary. This entire experience is a divine sandbox. An exercise in creativity.

You’re allowed to create beauty here. You’re allowed to enjoy it. Let go of the shame. Let go of the belief that wanting something physical means you’re less spiritual.

You are a Soul, playing dress-up in the material world. Just don’t confuse the costume for who you really are.

Detachment is the Key

The issue isn’t having things—it’s when the things start having you.

When your worth starts to hinge on what you own.
When your joy depends on what you wear.
When your peace is buried under the pressure to “keep up.”

Remember: everything you hold here belongs to this realm. Even your body will return to dust. You are only ever borrowing it all. And when you can hold it lightly—with gratitude, not grasping—you stay free.

Some will say, “But I worked for this, I earned it, it’s mine.” And yes, you played the game well. You created something with effort and vision. But don’t confuse effort with ownership. Don’t mistake the illusion for truth. Just because something feels real doesn’t make it eternal. What you hold in your hand may be earned—but what you hold in your heart is who you are.

Use What You Have to Radiate Light

Whether you have much or little, you can use your resources to bring light into your life and into the lives of others. A modest space can still be a sanctuary. A shared meal can still nourish a soul. A well-earned luxury can be a reminder of your creativity, not your worth.

It’s not about the amount. It’s about the energy behind it.

Do you use what you have to express love? To create joy? To uplift, to inspire, to reflect the beauty of your spirit?

If so, then you are in alignment.

Remember Who You Are

Don’t let the glitter fool you. Don’t let the gold make you forget that you are stardust. Divine. Temporary. Eternal. All at once.

You are not your car, your house, your skin, your bank account.
You are the soul experiencing all of it.

So go ahead—enjoy the beauty. Wear the thing. Build the dream. Just don’t lose yourself in the story.

Because when the story ends, all that will matter is how fully you lived, how deeply you loved, and how brightly you let your soul shine through it all.
